While based on our best experience, the technical advice given should be considered purely as guidance, and must be confirmed through comprehensive practical tests. This does not remove the purchaser's responsibility to personally test our products to see whether they are suitable for the planned use
Do NOT apply the products in the following cases: Surface temperature of less than +5°C, wet surfaces, presence of moisture
In case of application on new cement surfaces, wait until the cement is fully cured. Not completely dried layers of IMPELAST FR will be damaged by rain, dew and fog. Humidity and low temperatures lengthen drying times. Before carrying out waterproofing, check the internal moisture content of slabs and whether or not moisture vents are required
Datasheets(X)
Waterproofing of flat walkways, balconies, terraces, baths, showers and tiled surfaces. Subfloors and wall coatings: tiles can be affixed to the dry sealant using cement-based adhesives of type C2 or above. Product certified for underfloor use in accordance with the standard EN 14891: 2012
Preparation of surfaces:
Remove flaking, crumbling or non-adhering parts, paints, rust, dust and release agents and thoroughly clean the surfaces, which must be solid, clean and dry. Surfaces with irregularities, very rough plaster and castings, holes, gravel pockets, cracks etc. must be repaired and/or smoothed. Check the soundness and efficiency of water flow points (waste water). Treat or assess any expansion joints in advance. Carry out preliminary sealing of contraction and insulation joints using PU 40+ structural adhesive and sealant. Before sealing, insert backfill material acting as a "third wall" at the bottom of the joint. For surfaces with a large surface area, make sure that the expansion joints are positioned correctly. Where necessary, insert condensation outlets. Critical points (expansion joints, joints of overhanging components etc.) or anywhere the product is highly mechanically stressed must be reinforced using the NON fibre-reinforced version of Impelast in conjunction with non-woven fabric at 130 g/m2
Concrete surfaces:
Treat the surface with primer composed of Impelast diluted to 50 % with water (2 parts IMPELAST to 1 part water), with a quantity of 300 g/m2. In the case of surfaces made from pre-stressed concrete or porous materials (e.g. tuff), prepare the surfaces with B4 primer. In the case of damp and absorbent surfaces, use BK10 PRIMER at 150-300 g/m2 in accordance with absorption by the surface. Floors made of composite slabs (pre-stressed reinforced concrete) and lightweight slabs must be waterproofed with the NON fibre-reinforced version of IMPELAST, reinforced with non-woven fabric (see instructions on the technical data sheet)
Tiled surfaces:
On non-absorbent ceramic surfaces, apply C20 primer, approximately 250 g/m2. In the case of absorbent surfaces, apply B4 8 primer at approximately 250 ml/m2 depending on the porosity of the surface.
IMPELAST FR is ready to use: Do not dilute and do not use mechanical mixers. Mix by hand if necessary. After thoroughly preparing the surfaces, apply the first layer of IMPELAST at 1 kg/m2, using a smooth spatula and a brush to help with the corners. When fully dry, apply the second coat at approximately 1 kg/m2. Take care to apply it at a right angle to the first layer. We recommend applying the layers in contrasting colours
